“I started as a summer helper, and then as a lab technician. Through the years, I’ve had several positions in terms of supervising and managing, and I’ve recently taken on a new position – Innovation Development Manager.
“I think growth means going outside your comfort zone. I’d say I’ve grown most when I’ve been challenged to go outside of mine.”
– Todd, Cargill Animal Nutrition, United States
“For me, the most important aspect about working at Cargill is indeed the responsibility that you’re given. I began at Cargill when I was 23, straight from school. I was trained by an experienced team manager and given my own team after three months. After my first position, I went to a soy factory as a division manager. A year later, I became manager of the whole factory. I worked a couple more years in that position before coming to the cocoa division where I work now.”
– Marco, Cargill Cocoa, the Netherlands
“I’ve been with Cargill about five years. I started in the United Kingdom in a support and partner coordination role. Now, I’ve been in China where I’m more involved in the frontline and operational side of management. When I arrived at Cargill, I wanted to change direction. I saw Cargill as a multinational organization where there was scope to expand – and hopefully to travel and work in different places. After a couple of years with the organization, I was able to identify opportunities with my managers. So from my personal perspective, I think there is significant opportunity to develop at Cargill, both personally and professionally.”
– Geoff, Cargill Value Investments, China
“I started as a trainee in Salzgitter, Germany. I learned the basics of being a Cargill human resources professional. At the time, Germany started to change quite a bit, and I had the opportunity to work on two sales and one acquisition early in my career. After having worked a couple of years in Salzgitter as a human resources generalist, I joined a European team and worked on the design and implementation of a new HR process. My next role was waiting for me in Cobham, United Kingdom. After four years in the UK, I returned to Germany, taking on my current role as human resources manager that covers six sites across Germany. Overall, development opportunities within Cargill have broadened my view on how I see things, and they allow me to get more out of my job.”
– Gregor, Cargill Refined Oils Europe, Germany
“I first joined Cargill in the Training and Development department of Shared Services. When that project ended, I joined the Cargill Meat Solutions Case Ready business unit in the role of HR Associate at an 850-employee plant location. After a leave of absence for language immersion in Spain, I took on the role of Regional HR Manager working with our European locations. The challenges and opportunities I’ve encountered have transformed into great learning opportunities, which make me more effective in my current job, and ultimately better prepared for future opportunities.”
