After my study of commercial engineering at the University of Antwerp, I started working as a Commercial Management Trainee at Cargill. Although I had never heard of Cargill before, I was surprised to see in how many different markets Cargill is operating.

I chose Cargill because I am interested in the Food and Agricultural sector and because of the international possibilities the company is offering.

For the moment I am working in the Netherlands, where I am responsible for the sales of Protein, Fiber and Lipid products, from the production locations Sas van Gent and Bergen op Zoom. These products, which are derivatives of wheat and corn, are mainly sold in the Feed segment. As a member of the sales team I do not only sell the product to our customers, I have to cooperate with many departments such as Finance, Legal, Production, Supply and Planning. Also setting a price for a product is more than just calculating a margin. Different economical approaches are used to combine risk and supply into formulas to optimize the price for both parties, indeed Cargill and the customer.

Cargill offers me many development possibilities. I am participating in the European Graduate Programme, following different soft skill trainings. It is also a unique opportunity to meet other trainees across Europe, which is great and I enjoy the programme very much.
