European Graduate Program

I am a financial management trainee working in the Cocoa & Chocolate business unit. Cargill Cocoa imports cocoa beans mainly from West Africa to harbor in Amsterdam. In big warehouses the beans are stored, from where they’re shipped by boat or truck to the different plants in Holland, Germany, England and France.
Cargill Cocoa produces three semi-products from the cocoa beans: liquor, powder and butter. These products are sold to major chocolate customers or to our own chocolate plants (Cargill Chocolate).
As a trainee you are directly assigned to a job with your own responsibilities. From the beginning I am responsible for the general ledger of the liquor plant in York, England. One of the responsibilities is the P/L closing, balance sheet reconciliation and I am the contact person for my colleagues in the UK.
As a trainee you are able to participate in the European Graduate Programme attending trainings on soft-skills (communication, problem-solving and decision-making, cultural awareness…) together with other trainees from all over Europe. This is a perfect way to create your own international network. Cargill is for me a company with a hands-on mentality offering you responsibilities in a challenging role.
