When I was looking for a job, I wanted it to be in a multinational, multicultural company with a good and open spirit. I also wanted to have a lot of variety in my job and learn a lot, every day. This is exactly what I found in my IT traineeship with Cargill.
My first job assignment was to help to set up an administration office for the IT department. This enabled me to get to know the company and the people, and learn about financial and performance reporting (things managers work with every day). It was nice to be given a real task with responsibility from the beginning and to be able to help creating something totally new.
After six months I moved to a completely different and even more challenging job, working as a consultant for implementing an ERP system in the starch plant in Castelmassa, Italy. This assignment means working together with five more experienced consultants from four different nationalities and another trainee who is part of the local team. In two months from now, again a different job will be waiting for me.
Besides the different assignments, I am also very much enjoying the specific soft skill training sessions. They give me the chance to meet other young trainees from different departments and from all over Europe, so not only is this a great way to learn more about myself, each other and about the company, but above all it’s a lot of fun!
