European Graduate Program

I started my career in Cargill, as a Technical Management Trainee. In the corn and wheat processing plant in Bergen op Zoom I learned about the process and experienced for the first time work on a shift pattern. I also had the opportunity to commission a start-up of a new wheat plant in Manchester.

The start-up of Manchester gave me the great opportunity to become familiar with the basics of processing wheat. Different to a running plant I commissioned process lines and equipment that had never been used before, which made my work a challenge. Every time the process improved it gave me a real boost to move forward. Later on I worked on fine adjustments to the process and optimising capacity. During my half-year assignment in Manchester I could really improve my intercultural and professional skills.

As a trainee I joined Cargill’s European Graduate Programme. In this two years’ programme I have attended several trainings, amongst them problem-solving techniques, team building and communication skills and this gave me the opportunity to meet other trainees who are working in different business units, functions and countries.
